Foot care is probably something that you don’t think about on a daily basis, unless you’re a dancer or a runner. However, it’s definitely something to seriously consider. Healthy feet allow you to easily get from one place to another and to participate in a variety of enjoyable activities.
There are several things you can do, in approximately 10 minutes or less, to take great care of your feet. Even if there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in your day, chances are you’ll be able to take a quick time out to get the job done. You’ll be glad you did!
Vinegar Foot Soak
More and more people are opting for a relaxing vinegar foot soak, to revive tired, achy, feet. Why not join them? This is an excellent way to remove dry skin and reduce the possibility of a fungal nail infection.
Here is one example of a simple foot soak recipe. You probably already have the ingredients at home:
- 3 cups warm water
- 1/3 cup lemon juice
- 1/3 cup of your favorite medicated mouthwash
- 1/3 cup Epsom salt
- 1 cup vinegar (any vinegar is suitable, but apple cider vinegar is recommended, for best results)
Soak your feet for 10 minutes. Use a pumice stone to carefully remove dry skin and calluses. If you don’t have a pumice stone, simply dry your feet well with the towel. For an even quicker soak, use equal parts of vinegar and medicated mouthwash. Proceed in the same manner, as above.
Foot Massage
This is a quick DIY foot massage that is guaranteed to help relieve stress. Obviously, you’re going to work on one foot at a time.
- Rub a bit of your favorite massage oil into your foot. Mix in two or three drops of essential oil
- Rub the base of each toe, starting with your little toe
- Stretch each toe, in a circular motion, as you are massaging
- Gently massage both sides of your heel, with the palm of your hands or your fingertips
- Last but not least, take a minute or two to massage your calf
- Repeat the process on other foot, for optimum feet health
